19 JULY 2008Daiwa's own scoops win in first Ayrstrike Tournament
A member of Daiwa's product development team, David McAuley recently fished his way to a £3000 cheque in the 2008 Ayrstrike final with a hard earned bag of big tench for 5kg 680g.

The big money event, the first of its kind in Scotland hosted 16 qualifying rounds culminating in a winners take all ‘fish off’ at Springwater fishery near Ayr.

David used short range pole tactics in very windy conditions, with chopped worm, maggot and some additives luring the tench to his peg. Leading by the second hour a few lost fish still didn’t dent his chances although a late big tench for Mark Lyons did deny David of the big fish prize of £225.

In keeping with any big money win David ‘took the plunge’. Well done David.
