Over the course of a season you get asked to various angling events and shows and for me one that I always try to attend is the Carping4Heroes weekend at Manor Farm Fisheries near Biggleswade writes Daiwa Consultant Brian Skoyles.

Last Wednesday was the annual Daiwa Schools National Angling Championships and it was a terrific turnout. In light of the event, received the following match report:

Well what a European Championships we have just had. Held on the Lage Vaart canal in The Netherlands it saw three home nations finish in the top four places!

Wimbledon, Silverstone and Ostellato were all scenes of tremendous victories for British sport this weekend. Whilst Murray and Hamilton dominated at their home events, it was our own Daiwa Dorking team who delivered the goods away from home by winning the 36th World Club Championship.

“Forces CARP” is a programme designed to introduce injured service men and women to the sport of carp fishing, by giving them a series of basic coaching sessions. Last year, Brian Skoyles attended his first “Forces CARP” event and, as he was attending it again this year, he decided to write up the following article.

21st/22nd May 2016, at Grebe Pond, near Brough East Yorkshire, the first of four Carp School weekends organised by Hull and District Angling Association took place. Daiwa Consultant Brian Skoyles was one of the angling coaches helping a group of keen youngsters catch their first carp.

For Christmas my usual angling partner, Graham Drewery, got a light lure combo consisting of a Specialist Light Lure “Small Plugger” rod and a Ninja 1500A reel, as a present. With the lighter evenings and the warmer weather it seemed like a good idea to put the new gear through its paces.
