Carp wise I have had fish to 35lb 8oz in the UK, and 50lb 4oz whilst fishing abroad. I've always enjoyed spending time chasing other species and have landed pike to 24lb 12oz, tench to 8lb 8oz as well as double figure barbel and 5lb+ chub from the rivers and 100lb+ catfish from France.
I've been involved with numerous junior fishing and coaching days, which is something I really enjoy, as well as featuring in various angling magazines and on TV for Tight Lines on Sky Sports.
Like most anglers I'd imagine there have been lots of great memories of trips, people and fish that have been special to me, so it's really difficult to select just one.
If I was pushed I think probably the most memorable was catching a 35lb 8oz mirror from a North Lincolnshire lake. The water was around half an hours drive from my house but I'd been making the effort to regularly fish the lake on overnighters between work, keeping in touch with what the fish where doing and trying to establish a bait. The hard work eventually paid off when the lakes biggest resident slipped over the net, setting a new personal best in the process.
I think my main ambition over the next few seasons is to continue to enjoy my fishing as much as I do now.
Having recently moved to Oxford I'm keen to get to know the local area, and make the most of some of the fantastic carp lakes nearby.
I'm always looking to learn and improve, and over the last couple of years have spent time targeting other species as well as carp, including trips after barbel, perch, chub and pike. This has been great fun and I'm sure will be something I continue to do in the future.
Rods: Infinity Magnum 2.75 tc - For me they offer the perfect balance between playing action and power, being able to cope with fishing from the margins to casting leads to the horizon if needed.
Reels: Tournament Basia - Incredibly light but still robust enough for the job. The quick drag clutch allows me total control while playing fish.
Accessories: Sensor line in both the original and clear colours, Infinity banksticks, Infinity bedchair, Mission 40lt Roving Rucksack, Gamakatsu carp hooks, in particular the Super and Specialist wide gape patterns
It might seem obvious but I always remember my dad telling me as a kid that the best swim was the one with the fish in it!!! Try to arrive at a venue with an open mind over swim choice, spend time walking round, and watch the water for any signs of fish. I've lost count of the times I have had almost instant action having taken the time finding the fish first.
Although it can be frustrating at times for me there is nothing better than being able to watch the fish I'm targeting so I love both floater fishing and stalking.
I'm a big football fan, and also play badminton and squash and enjoy walking in the countryside (ideally by a river or lake!). I love to travel, and have got a few trips in mind including going to China and Australia at some point in the next couple of years.
I have also got a strong interest in computing, web design and photography.
I spent three months taking pictures of a teddy bear in different places around North America and posting them back to the UK! The bear was given to me by the reception class of four and five year olds that my mum teaches to help them with their Geography lessons. I certainly got the odd strange look, and the bear was lucky to survive US customs on a couple of occasions!!!
