Unfinished business for Bob

Daiwa's Bob Roberts recently returned from the Andaman Sea in search of Giant Trevally.

Bob was there on unfinished business having been ‘blown off’ on his last visit when the Andaman Islands caught the aftermath of a tsunami. This time the sun shone and he was able to test the GT86 rod and Dogfight reels to their limits.

“The finest way to catch GT’s is on surface lures” explained Bob, “But make sure you spend time in the gym before having a go because it’s incredibly hard work casting lures that weigh around 6oz and then ‘popping’ them through the waves. The hits are spectacular and the fights are like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Remember, these are fish of a similar size to a good sized carp yet they will melt the drag on an inferior reel and you really do have to hang on. Their power is incredible. They don’t call it GT Racing for nothing!”
