John sent us this report…
“Two weeks ago I was fishing with my new Daiwa Proteus rod on one of my club waters. I was an hour into the session fishing a bit of free lined meat, when I had an almighty take and the rod nearly bent in half. I stood there in my wellies frozen to the spot, as it did not feel like the normal chub or tench I am used to catching from that stretch of river and I was not set up for pike."
"I nearly gave up at one point thinking the fish had snagged up but then I got some movement. The rod was dancing about all over the place, but I was getting a lot of feedback through the blank, more than other rods I have used over the years. Gradually I gained line and after a tense fight I finally landed a stunning barbel, which turned the scales to 15lbs 1oz. As the day progressed I went on to take three more barbel and finished a very happy angler."
A big thank you to John for his feedback and well done on such a fabulous fish.
The Proteus Barbel is a twin tipped rod, with a quiver top for light feeder work and a1.75 tc top capable of handling lines up to 10 lbs and casting large feeders accurately up to 110yds. The butt section has a combined cork EVA handle and screw down reel hood. The rod has a matt finish and metal butt cap giving the rod a very pleasing appearance.
The Proteus barbel rod performs like a top of the range rod, but with a RRP of £79.99 doesn’t come with a top of the range price tag. A rod well worth a closer look.
